Education Data Research
"Education Data Research has provided training and ongoing technical assistance around data collection that has saved the DOE resources (money, staff time and effort) and has coordinated and aligned resources between the data management company. state evaluation, and the project monitor. In addition, their support has been fundamental to our 21st Century Community Learning Centers' success in meeting the grant requirements through collection of consistent and better quality data, and has allowed Nevada to showcase the unique programs that are offered in our state."
Marcia, Nevada Department of Education
Education Data Research (part of 21st Century Student Support Services) has been working with the Nevada Department of Education since 2008 providing on-going data management and technical assistance. During this time frame we have enhanced coordination of data and aligned services.
We have taken the lead role in coordinating an action plan which includes the various players that support the states 21st Century Community Learning Center programs including; Program Evaluator, Project Monitor, the Data Management System, Lead Education Agencies (LEA) and State Education Agency (SEA) representatives. Our working relationship includes sharing resources, such as; providing program data reviews to the program monitor prior to his site visits. The program monitor shares the results of his site review allowing us to follow-up with any data compliance issues or provide technical assistance when needed.
Our team has helped Nevada establish a State Evaluation Committee to align the components of evaluation with the appropriate data collected and ensuring the components are realistic and measurable. We have created a compliance calendar for the SEA and grantees, ensuring they meet state and federal deadlines.
Working with the NV DOE we have created procedures to track grant requirements thus allowing the state to handle any compliance issues. In turn, we provide training and technical assistance to grantees so they can show an entire picture of their program through consistent and accurate data.
